 (c)  
Install the pins into the aftflap arms and spindles.


 NOTE: Make sure that the slots in the pins align with the
____
 holes in the spindles.

 (d)  
Install the lockbolts (6) in each spindle.

 (e)  
Tighten each lockbolt with a washer (1) and a locknut (2).

 (f)  
Temporarily install the aftflap on the midflap.

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT LET THE AFTFLAP ARMS TOUCH THE MIDFLAP. THE MIDFLAP WILL BE DAMAGED.
 (2)  Remove the strongback, spreader bar and the load positioner from the aftflap.
 (3)  S 434-027Install the screws at the strongback attach points.
 (4)  S 864-014Supply electrical power (Ref 24-22-00/201).
 (5)  S 834-015Adjust the inboard aftflap before you connect the actuator rods:
 CAUTION:_______ MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.
 DO NOT OPERATE THE FLAP IF THE AFTFLAP IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE MIDFLAP. THE AFTFLAP AND MIDFLAP WILL BE DAMAGED.
 BEFORE THE FLAPS ARE OPERATED, MAKE SURE THAT THE HOOK ON THE GENEVA CAM MECHANISM IS IN THE RELEASED POSITION AS SHOWN ON DETAIL C, FIG. 402. THE FLAPS WILL BE DAMAGED IF THEY ARE OPERATED WITH THE HOOKS LATCHED.

 (a) Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to put the flaps in alternate control.

 (b) Use the ALTN FLAPS switch to extend the inboard flaps to the
 65.00 +/- 0.25 inch (165.10 +/- 0.64 cm) dimension (Fig. 403).
 (c)  Turn the ALTN FLAPS switch to the OFF position.
 CAUTION:_______ADJUST THE AFTFLAP ACTUATOR RODS (AFT RODS) ONLY. THE NECESSARY DIMENSION MUST BE IN THE LIMITS AT THE TWO ENDS OF THE FLAP TO PREVENT FLAP DAMAGE.
 THE PUSHRODS (FORWARD RODS) MUST BE KEPT AT THE LENGTH SHOWN IN FIG. 404 TO PREVENT ROD LOADS THAT ARE TOO HIGH. THE PUSHRODS CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM THE SPECIFIED LENGTH ONLY WHEN THE ACTUATOR RODS CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO THE 6.15-6.35 INCH DIMENSION. IF THE LENGTH OF THE PUSHRODS IS CHANGED, IT MUST BE THE SAME ON THE TWO PUSHRODS.
 (d)  
Retract the aftflap to the 6.15-6.35 inch (15.62-16.13 cm) dimension (Fig. 404).

 (e)  
Adjust the bulb seal on the midflap trailing edge until it compresses as shown on Fig. 404.

 (f)  
Align the actuator rods (7) with the aftflap fittings (10).

 (g)  
Adjust the rod ends.

 (h)  
Make sure that you can see the rod end threads in the
 inspection hole.


 (i)  
Tighten the rod end checknuts.

 (j)  
Install the lockwire.

 CAUTION: BEFORE THE ACTUATOR RODS ARE CONNECTED, MAKE SURE THAT THE HOOK
_______ ON THE GENEVA CAM MECHANISM IS IN THE RELEASED POSITION AS SHOWN ON FIG. 402. THE FLAPS WILL BE DAMAGED IF THEY ARE MOVED WITH THE HOOKS IN THE LATCHED POSITION.
 (6)  
Install the rod ends on the aftflap with a bolt (13), bushing (11), washers (12 and 8), and the nut (9).

 (a)  
Tighten the nut to 120 pound-inches (13.6 N-m). 1) Continue to tighten the nut to align the cotter pin hole.
