Install the Flap Control Assembly


 S 224-014
 (1)
Examine the rod (1) connections for worn areas (AMM 27-51-19/601).

 S 124-015

 (2)  
Clean the surfaces of the flap control assembly (16) and the flap power unit (11) for an electrical bond (AMM 20-11-14/701).

 S 424-016

 (3)  
Install the flap control assembly.

 (a)  
Remove the protective cover from the flap power unit (gearbox) (3).

 (b)  
Align the spline teeth with the teeth that are not there as an index point.

 (c)  
Install the quill shaft (17) in the flap power unit (gearbox) (3).

 (d)  
Align the quill shaft (17) and the follow-up shaft splines.

 (e)  
Remove the temporary support from the input crankshaft (2).

 (f)  
Apply a layer of corrosion preventive compound on the bearing (8).

 (g)  
Install the flap power unit (gearbox) (3) and the flap control assembly (16) on the flap power unit (3). Engage the quill shaft (17) and the housing boss (4).

 (h)  
Attach the flap control assembly (16) with the four bolts (13), washers (12) and the nuts (19).

 (i)  
On the inboard flap control assembly (16), install the feedback arm (9). 1) Apply a layer of corrosion preventive compound on the


 crankshaft (2) and the nut (6). 2) Align the input arm (9) and shaft splines.

 (j)  3) Install the feedback arm on the crankshaft (2). 4) Install the clamp bolt (5) on the feedback arm (9). 5) Install the washers (7) and the retainer nut (6). 6) Tighten the nut. 7) Install the cotter pin (10).On the outboard flap control assembly (16), install the feedback arm (9). 1) Apply a layer of corrosion preventive compound to the threads of the nut (6) and the crankshaft (2). 2) Install the washers (7) and the nut (6). 3) Tighten the nut (6). 4) Install the cotter pin (10).

 (4)  Clean the line between the flap control assembly (16) and the flap power unit (gearbox) (3) with solvent.

 (5)  Apply a layer of primer to the line between the flap control assembly (16) and the flap power unit (gearbox) (3).
