 WARNING: CAREFULLY DO THE SPECIFIED TASK TO INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS ON
_______ THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  Install the door locks on the doors for the body landing gear (AMM 32-00-30/201).

Electrically Retract the flaps to 0-detent.

Replace the Flap Power Package Quill Shaft (Fig. 801)

 S 028-004
 (1)  
Remove the quill shaft:

 (a)  
Remove The RVDT Transmitter (AMM 27-58-01/401).

 (b)  
Remove the aft Limit Switch Pack (AMM 27-51-18/401).

 (c)  
Remove the Flap Control Cover Assembly. 1) Remove (4) bolts and (4) washers from the cover.

 CAUTION:  BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE AFT BEARING. IF YOU DROP THE AFT BEARING IN THE PDU, IT COULD BE DIFFICULT TO GET OUT.

 (d)  
Remove the nut, Gear, and Aft Bearing from the Quill Shaft.

 (e)  
Remove the Spacer.

 CAUTION:  BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE THE FORWARD BEARING. IF YOU DROP THE FORWARD BEARING IN THE PDU, IT COULD BE DIFFICULT TO GET OUT.

 (f)  
Temporarily Install a longer spacer, washer, and nut to hold the forward bearing in place on the shaft.

 (g)  
Remove the Cotter Pin and Protective Cover (Nut) from the Quill Shaft opening in the Flap Power Package (Gearbox).

 (h)  
ON THE INBOARD PDU;
 the alternate motor might have to be removed
 (AMM 27-51-17/401).

 (i)  
Remove the broken inner quill shaft.

 NOTE:  It can be necessary to use a dowell or rod to pull the broken shaft out the aft end of the PDU.

 (2)  
Install a new quill shaft.

 (a)  
Disconnect the torque tubes from the flaps power package.

 (b)  
Manually rotate the PDU output shaft and align the missing teeth in the control unit and gear box.

 (c)  
Apply a layer of grease to the quill shaft.

 (d)  
Install a new inner quill shaft with the spacer, washer, and nut.

 (e)  
Install the aft bearing, gear, and washer.
