WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE TE
_______ AND LE FLAPS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. THE TE AND LE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY WITH ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
(a)
Move the flap control lever to the 5, 10, 20, 25, or 30-unit detent to extend the flaps.
(b)
Make sure that the FLAPS display shows on the EICAS when you move the flap control lever. 1) The flap indicator bars will show in magenta color when the
flaps start to move. 2) The flap indicator bars will change to green when the flaps are at the set position.

(5) Extend the flaps in the alternate electric mode:

(a)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch on the pilots' center instrument panel to the ALTN position.
(b)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch on the pilot's center instrument panel to EXT.
(c)
Make sure that the FLAPS display shows on the EICAS when the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch is in the ALTN position.
(d)
Set the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to OFF when the flaps are in the correct position.
WARNING: MAKE SURE ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE
_______ AND TE FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS. THE TE AND LE FLAPS WILL MOVE TO AGREE WITH THE CONTROL LEVER POSITION WHEN YOU DISARM ALTERNATE CONTROL. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(e) Move the flap control lever to the position of the flaps.

7. Trailing Edge Flaps Retraction with Electrical Power____________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
There are two control modes to extend the flaps by electrical power: the primary electric mode and the alternate electric mode.
(2)
In the primary electric mode, you move the flap control lever to retract the flaps.
(3)
In the alternate electric mode, you use the ALTN FLAPS switches on the pilots' center instrument panel to retract the flaps.
(4)
Two of the three flap control unit inputs are from the relays R7774, ALT FLAP INBD TE, and R7775, ALT FLAP 2 OTBD. Circuit breakers TE FLAP ELEC CONT OTBD and TE FLAP ELEC CONT INBD supply power to these relays. If these two circuit breakers are pulled, the flaps will remain in the primary mode. If only one of the circuit breakers are pulled, the flaps will transition into the alternate mode. A FLAPS CONTROL EICAS caution message will be displayed when the flap system is in the alternate mode.
