WARNING: OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO PREVENT RETRACTION OF THE
_______ SPOILERS. THE SPOILERS WILL RETRACT AUTOMATICALLY IF YOU USE THE SPEED BRAKE LEVER TO LIFT THE SPOILERS AND IF HYDRAULIC SYSTEM NO. 1 AND 4 ARE NOT PRESSURIZED. INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR IF THE SPOILERS RETRACT.
(1)
Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7G6, SPEED BRAKE AUTO CONT

(2) Pressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and No. 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.

Put the flap control lever in the 30-unit detent to extend the inboard flaps.

Put the speed brake lever in the UP position to lift spoilers No. 5 thru 8 above the inboard foreflap.

Install the spoiler actuator locking tools or move the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER switches to SHUTOFF to make sure the spoilers will not retract.

Release the pressure in hydraulic systems No. 1 and No. 4
(AMM 29-11-00/201).

Remove the Inboard Foreflap

Install the support equipment.
(a)
Remove the screws from the strongback attach points (Fig. 402).

(b)
Install two strongback parts on the foreflap (Fig. 402).
(c)
Attach the spreader bar and the load positioner to the strongback.

(2) Remove the inboard foreflap (Fig. 401).
CAUTION:_______HOLD THE FOREFLAP. THE LEADING EDGE CAN BE DAMAGED BY THE HEADS OF THE GIMBAL FITTING BOLTS.
(a)
Remove the bolts (9), washers (8 and 12), nut (11) and the washer (10) which attach the foreflap (1) to each carriage and toggle.
(b)
Remove the bolts (5), washers (4 and 6), and the nut (3) which attach the foreflap lever to the three midflap tracks.
NOTE: While the bolt is removed from each track, hold the
____ track, or it will fall into the midflap.
(c) Remove the foreflap.
NOTE: Make sure that the foreflap is held tightly during
____ the removal. The foreflap weighs approximately 270 pounds (122 kg).
(d)
Remove the inner clamp-up washer (13) from the carriage and toggles.
(e)
Remove the bushings (7) from the carriage and toggles.
(f)
Tag the bushings INBOARD TRACK or OUTBOARD TRACK.
NOTE: The bushings must be installed in the correct track.
