 D.  Procedure
 S 715-039
 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC OR PNEUMATIC POWER REMOVED, THE TE OR LE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (1)  
Do a test the of the flap control lever:

 (a)  
Make sure that the handle moves smoothly through the full range of the travel.

 (b)  
Use the spring scale to the measure the force necessary to move the flap control lever: 1) Make sure that the force necessary to lift the handle clear


 of the detents is not more than 7 pounds.
 2)  Make sure that the force necessary to move the flap control lever between the detents is 2 to 4 pounds (1 to 2 kilograms).
 NOTE: Measure the force while you move the lever forward
____ (0 to 30 detents) and aft (30 to 0 detents).

 (2)  
Do this task: "Supply Electrical Power" (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 (3)  
Do a ground test of the flap control units:

 (a)  
Select <GROUND TESTS from the CMC menu.

 (b)  
Select <27 FLAP CONTROL.

 (c)  
Select <FLAP CONTROL - L. 1) Make sure that TEST IN PROGRESS shows on the CDU. 2) Make sure that PASS shows on the CDU when the test is done.

 (d)  
Select <FLAP CONTROL - C. 1) Make sure that TEST IN PROGRESS shows on the CDU.

 (e)  2) Make sure that PASS shows on the CDU when the test is done.Select <FLAP CONTROL - R. 1) Make sure that TEST IN PROGRESS shows on the CDU. 2) Make sure that PASS shows on the CDU when the test is done.
 (4)  S 735-026Do this task: "System Test - Trailing Edge Flap Load Relief System" (Ref Paragraph 3).
 (5)  S 865-026Do this task:  "Pressurize Pneumatic System" (Ref 36-00-00/201).
 (6)  S 495-011Make sure that the ground lockpins for the landing gear are installed.

 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (7)  Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Body Landing Gear" (Ref 32-00-30/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
_______ SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (8)  
Do this task to pressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4: "Hydraulic System Pressurization" (Ref 29-11-00/201).

 (9)  
Make sure that the TE flaps operate in the primary hydraulic mode:


 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE
_______ AND TE FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC OR PNEUMATIC POWER REMOVED, THE TE OR LE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (a)  
Make sure that the flap control lever is in the UP detent.

 (b)  
Move the flap control lever to the 1-unit detent. 1) Make sure that the FLAPS display shows on the EICAS.
