Put the speedbrake control lever in the UP detent to lift the spoilers No. 1-4 and 9-12 above the outboard flaps.

Install the spoiler actuator locking tools or move the FLT CONTROL HYD POWER switches to SHUTOFF to make sure the spoilers will not retract.

Release the pressure in hydraulic systems No. 2 and 3

Install the movable flap track fairings (AMM 27-51-31/401).

 CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAPS CAREFULLY WHILE THEY RETRACT. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BECAUSE OF INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.

Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the flaps.

Release the pressure in hydraulic system No. 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do a check of the aftflaps adjustment with the flap track movable fairing bulb seals compressed.


 NOTE: The flaps must be in the fully retracted position.
____ You must extend the flaps for access, if adjustment of these dimensions is necessary.
 CAUTION:_______ADJUST THE AFTFLAP ACTUATOR RODS (AFT RODS) ONLY. THE NECESSARY DIMENSION MUST BE IN THE LIMITS AT THE TWO ENDS OF THE FLAP TO PREVENT FLAP DAMAGE.
 THE PUSHRODS (FORWARD RODS) MUST BE KEPT AT THE LENGTH SHOWN IN DETAIL A, FIG. 502 TO PREVENT ROD LOADS THAT ARE TOO HIGH. THE PUSHRODS CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM THE SPECIFIED LENGTH ONLY WHEN THE ACTUATOR RODS CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO THE 6.70-6.80 INCH (17.0-17.3 CM) DIMENSION. IF THE LENGTH OF THE PUSHRODS IS CHANGED, IT MUST BE THE SAME ON THE TWO PUSHRODS.
 (a)  
Make sure that the dimension between the aftflap and the midflap is 6.70-6.80 inches (17.0-17.3 cm) (View B-B, Fig. 501).

 (b)  
Make sure that the seal between the midflap and the aftflap is adjusted to the limits shown (View B-B, Fig. 501).

 (c)  
Make sure that the clearance between the aftflap and the support strut is a minimum of 0.22 inch (0.56 cm) (View B-B, Fig. 501).

Make sure that the clearance between the midflap trailing edge
 and the aftflap is 0.22-0.27 inch (0.56-0.69 cm)
 (View B-B, Fig. 501):
 1)  Pressurize hydraulic systems No. 2, 3 and 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).
 2)  Put the flap control lever in the 30-unit detent to extend the flaps.
 3)  Examine the leading edge of the aftflap for damage.
 4)  If the leading edge has damage, make sure that the fastener threads on the cove panel support extend 0.11 inch
