E. Prepare for the Inboard Aftflap Removal

(1) Pressurize hydraulic system No. 1 (Ref 29-11-00/201).

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.

Put the flap control lever in the 30-unit detent to extend the flaps.

Release the pressure in hydraulic system No. 1 (Ref 29-11-00/201).

Remove the Inboard Aftflap (Fig. 401).

Install the support equipment:
(a)
Remove the screws from the strongback attach points (Fig. 401).
(b)
Install the two strongback parts on the aftflap (Fig. 401).
(c)
Do these steps to attach the load positioner and the spreader bar to the strongbacks (Fig. 402). 1) Follow the instructions on the instruction plate on the
spreader bar to put the adjust-a-leg sling into the correct
position. 2) Move the counter weight to make the spreader bar level. 3) Attach the load positioner and the spreader bar to the
strong-backs.

(2) Remove the inboard aftflap:
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE AFTFLAP ARMS HIT THE MIDFLAP TRAILING EDGE
_______ WHEN YOU REMOVE THE AFTFLAP ARMS. THE MIDFLAP CAN BE DAMAGED.
(a)
Remove the bolts (13), washers (12 and 8), bushing (11), and the nut (9) which attach the two actuator rods (7) to the aftflap (3) (Fig. 402).
(b)
Remove the nuts (2), washers (1) and lockbolts (6), which attach the pins (5), at the four aftflap arm and spindle attach points.
