Prepare for the Installation

Examine the aftflap arms for worn areas (Ref 27-51-06/601).

If used pins (5) will be installed; examine the pins for worn areas (Fig. 402) (Ref 27-51-06/601).

Install the strongbacks to the aftflap (Fig. 401).

Do these steps to attach the load positioner and the spreader bar to the strongbacks (Fig. 401):
(a)
Follow the instructions on the instruction plate on the spreader bar to put the adjust-a-leg sling into the correct position.
(b)
Move the counter weight to make the spreader bar level.
(c)
Attach the load positioner and spreader bar to the strongbacks.

Lubricate the four pins with a thin layer of grease.

Install the Outboard Aftflap

(1)
Connect the outboard aftflap to the aftflap arms:
(a)
Lift the aftflap (4) into its position.
(b)
Put the spindles (3) into the aftflap arms on the midflap (Fig. 402).
(c)
Install the four pins, with the grease fitting down, into the aftflap arms and spindles.
NOTE: Make sure that the slots in the pins are aligned with
____
the holes in spindles.
(d)
Install the lockbolt (6) in each spindle.
(e)
Tighten each lockbolt with a washer (1) and a locknut (2).
