 S 865-024
 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (2)  
Put the flap control lever in the UP detent.

Make sure that the trailing edge and leading edge flaps are
 retracted.

 

 NOTE: The TE flap indicator bar on the EICAS will be green and the
____ LE indicator bar will be white when the flaps are fully retracted. The display will go off the EICAS 10 seconds after the flaps are fully retracted.

Release the pressure in hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4 if it is on (Ref 29-11-00/201).

Release the pressure in the pneumatic system (Ref 36-00-00/201).

Procedure


 S 715-004
 (1)  
Do a test of the primary electrical operation:

 (a)  
Put the flap control lever in the 1-unit detent.

 (b)  
Put the flap control lever in the 5-unit detent.

 (c)  
Make sure that the EICAS caution message FLAPS PRIMARY shows after 10 seconds.

 (d)  
After 25 seconds, make sure that all LE flaps move in the extend direction. The EICAS must show a crosshatched indication on all six of the leading edge boxes.

 (e)  
Make sure that all inboard and outboard TE flaps move in the extend direction. You must see movement on all four of the trailing edge indicator bars on the EICAS.

 (f)  
Put the flap control lever in the 1-unit detent.


 NOTE: Do not wait for the flaps to extend to the 5-unit
____
 position.

 (g)  
Put the flap control lever in the UP Detent.

 (h)  
Make sure that all of the TE and LE flaps are retracted. The TE flap indicator bar must change from magenta to green and the LE indicator bar changes to white.

 (i)  
After 20 seconds, make sure that the flap display goes off the EICAS.

 F.
Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

 3.  Alternate Electric Operational Test - LE and TE Flap Systems____________________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
The alternate system is an open loop system that controls the LE and TE flaps independently of the flap control units (FCUs) with the electric motors. The alternate system is controlled by a pushbutton ALTN FLAPS ARM switch and a rotary ALTN FLAPS E T/RET switch on the P2-3 Pilot's Center Panel. A "FLAPS CONTROL" caution message will be shown on the EICAS to show that the alternate system is in control.
