Install the support equipment if it is necessary.
(a)
Install the strongback on the outboard foreflap.
NOTE: There are 4 different part numbers for the strongbacks.
____ The correct part number is determined by the location where the strongback attaches to the foreflap. The attach holes will not align if a strongback is used in the incorrect location. The correct strongback locations are as follows:

(b) Do these steps to attach the spreader bar and the load positioner to the strongbacks (Fig. 402): 1) Follow the instructions on the instruction plate on the
spreader bar to put the adjust-a-leg sling into the correct
position. 2) Move the counter weight to make the spreader bar level. 3) Attach the load positioner and the spreader bar to the
strongbacks.

Install the outboard foreflap.
(a)
Put the foreflap in a position such that the sequence carriages and foreflap fittings are aligned.
(b)
Attach the two sequence carriages to the foreflap. 1) Install a bolt (10), washer (9), bushing (8), washers (11) and a nut (12) on each sequence carriage. 2) Tighten the nut (12) on the inboard flap track to a torque of 290-410 pound-inches (33-46 N-m). 3) Tighten the nut (12) on the outboard flap track to a torque
of 95-110 pound-inches (11-12 N-m). 4) Install the cotter pins on the nuts (12)
(c)
Attach the four midflap tracks to the foreflap. 1) Remove the supports from the midflap track. 2) Align the midflap track and the foreflap lever (7).

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE FOREFLAP CARRIAGE AND TOGGLE ARE LOCKED
_______ IN THE TRACK DETENT. THE FLAP COMPONENTS CAN BE DAMAGED.
3) Install the bushing (4) in the midflap track. 4) Install a bolt (2), washers (3 and 5) and a nut (6) in the midflap track. 5) Tighten the nut to a torque of 160-190 pound-inches (18-21 N-m). 6) Install a cotter pin.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE FOREFLAP FITTING IS INSTALLED CORRECTLY.
_______ THE SPOILER AND THE FOREFLAP CAN BE DAMAGED.

Make sure that the lube fitting on the foreflap fitting at the outboard flap track is forward.
(a)
If the foreflap fitting is not installed correctly, install it correctly. 1) Remove the bolts, nuts, washers and bushings from the
fitting. 2) Remove the fitting. 3) Install the fitting with the lube fitting forward. 4) Install the bolts, nuts, washers and bushings. 5) Tighten the nuts to a torque of 36-44 pound-inches. 6) Install the cotter pins.

Remove the strongback, spreader bar and load positioner from the foreflap.

Do a check of the clearance to the side load guide.
CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.

Make sure that the dimension between the side load guide and the midflap carriage is in the limits of section C-C, Fig. 401.
