Attach the bolt (32) with a washer (30) and a nut (29).

 (h)  
Tighten the nut (29) to 90-120 pound-inches (10-14 N-m).

 (i)  
Install the cotter pin (35).

 (j)  
Install the access panels on the midflap.

 (5)  
Examine the side movement of each midflap track:

 (a)  
Put the midflap in a horizontal position.

 (b)  
Extend the midflap track 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) from the midflap leading edge.

 (c)  
Apply a down force with hand pressure on the midflap track to engage the midflap track in the two sets of rollers.

 (d)  
Make sure that the side movement normal to the flap track at the midflap leading edge is not more than 0.25 inch (0.64 cm).

 (6)  
If the side movement is more than 0.25 inch (0.64 cm), examine the midflap track for worn parts (AMM 27-51-01/601).

If required, install a forward bogie on each flap track
 (Fig. 401, View F).

Install The Inboard Flap

 (1)  Compress the seals on the inboard end of the flap. Attach the seals.
 NOTE: Unless the seals are compressed, they will touch the
____ fuselage and cause problems when you put the flaps on the flap tracks.

 (2)  S 424-066Make sure that the carriage and toggles are installed and moved forward on the flap tracks.
 (3)  S 484-061Attach the clips and strongbacks to the midflap. If the aftflap is installed, make sure the aftflap turnbuckle and the clips are attached to the midflap and aftflap (Fig. 402).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THE SPREADER BAR IS ATTACHED TO THE HOLES MARKED
_______ "INSTL-REMOVAL POSITION" ON THE STRONGBACK. THIS WILL MAKE SURE THE FLAP ASSEMBLY IS AT THE CORRECT ANGLE FOR INSTALLATION. YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONNEL OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (4)  
Do these steps to attach the load positioner and the spreader bar to the strongbacks (Fig. 402):

 (a)  
Follow the instructions on the instruction plate on the spreader bar to put the adjust-a-leg sling into the correct position (Fig. 402).

 (b)  
Move the counter weight to make the spreader bar level.

 (c)  
Attach the load positioner and spreader bar to the strongback assemblies.

 (5)  Install the flap assembly:
 CAUTION: MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT BEND THE FAIL-SAFE LINK AND BRACKETS
_______ WHICH HOLD THE FAIL-SAFE LINK. THE FAIL-SAFE YOKE CAN BE DAMAGED.
 (a)  
Lift the flap assembly (1) into its position, start the forward bogies together on the flap tracks, and move them forward (Fig. 401).

 (b)  
If the forward bogies were separated from the flap carriages, do the following steps: 1) Align the forward bogie with the carriage. 2) Coat four bushings lightly with BMS 3-33 grease and install


 the bushings into the forward bogie.

 3)  Align the washers with the bolt holes. Make sure that the thickness of the washers is the same as recorded during the flap removal. If the thickness of the washers has been lost, install the washers to obtain a nominal gap as shown in Fig. 401, view F.
 NOTE:____ Use any combination of 0.020 and 0.032 inch thick
 (0.051 to 0.081 cm thick) washers to obtain gap
 dimension.  Make sure that a 0.063 inch thick
 (0.160 cm thick) washer is installed between the
 carriage and the forward bogie on the inside of the
 carriage.
 4)  Apply a large quantity of MIL-C-11796, class 3, corrosion
