 S 865-019
 WARNING:_______ MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
 FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP
 CONTROL LEVER.  WITH HYDRAULIC OR PNEUMATIC POWER REMOVED, THE
 TE OR LE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN

 YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (4)  
Move the flap control lever to the 30-unit detent and let the TE flaps fully extend.

 (a)  
Monitor the position of the TE flaps on the EICAS.

 (5)  
Make sure that the load relief system operates with the TE flaps at the 30-unit position:

 (a)  
Increase the airspeed from 0 knots. Increase the airspeed slowly after it is 170 knots.

 (b)  
Make sure that the TE flaps retract to 25 units at an airspeed of 178 +/-2 knots.

 (c)  
Make sure the EICAS message FLAP RELIEF shows.

 (d)  
Slowly decrease the airspeed.

 (e)  
Make sure that the TE flaps extend to 30 units at an airspeed of 170 +/-2 knots.

 (6)  
Make sure that the load relief system operates with the TE flaps at the 25 unit position:

 (a)  
Move the flap control lever to the 25-unit detent and let the TE flaps move to the 25-unit position.

 (b)  
Slowly increase the airspeed.

 (c)  
Make sure that the TE flaps retract to 20 units at an airspeed of 203 +/-2 knots.

 (d)  
Slowly decrease the airspeed.

 (e)  
Make sure that the TE flaps extend to 25 units at an airspeed of 195 +/-2 knots.

 4.  Ground Test - Flap Control Units________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  
This is a test of the BITE functions of the flap control units (FCU's). This procedure is applicable to each of the three FCU's. During this test all internal functions of the applicable FCU are tested. Other high lift system LRU faults will also be reported to the FCU. You must not use this test to troubleshoot any high lift component other than the FCU's.

Make sure the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch is off.

Prepare the CDU for the test:

 (a)  
Push the MENU key on the CDU to show the MENU.

 (b)  
Push the line select key (LSK) that is adjacent to <CMC to show the CMC MENU.

 (c)  
If <RETURN shows after you push the LSK, push the LSK that is adjacent to <RETURN until you see the CMC MENU.
