 A.  This procedure has one task which is to adjust the outboard flap. The tasks has these parts:
 (1)
The extension of the outboard flight spoilers

 (2)
An adjustment of the ball screws at the downstop

 (3)
An adjustment of the sequence carriage hook

 (4)
An adjustment of the midflap support track

 (5)
An adjustment of the ball screws at the upstop

 (6)
An adjustment of the midflap droop and symmetry.

 (7)
An adjustment of the other clearances

 (8)
An adjustment of the aftflaps

 B.  
If you do the outboard flap adjustment/test procedure after a flap installation, the movable flap track fairing will be installed as part of this procedure. Each flap can be adjusted independently.

 C.  
The two flap carriages are attached to the midflap with a self-aligning support and a link. Shims at the link control the relation of the midflap and the wing in the vertical direction. This is called the droop. The symmetry is the difference between the left and right outboard midflap droop measurements. The shims you install should be the same thickness as the shims you removed. If the shim thicknesses change, the new flap position will change the trim of the airplane. Therefore, you should write down the shim thickness when you remove a midflap from the airplane. If the shim thickness is not correct, the droop and symmetry will not be correct. This task has steps to measure and adjust the droop and symmetry.
