(3) Make sure that the trailing edge and leading edge flaps are
retracted.
NOTE: The TE flap indicator bar on the EICAS will be green and the
____ LE indicator bar will be white when the flaps are fully retracted. The display will go off the EICAS 10 seconds after the flaps are fully retracted.

Release the pressure in hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4 if it is on (Ref 29-11-00/201).

Procedure

(1)
Do a test of the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch:
(a)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch, installed on the P2-3 panel, to arm the alternate flap system.
(b)
Make sure that the EICAS caution message FLAPS CONTROL shows.
(c)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to disarm the alternate control of the flaps.
(d)
After 7 seconds, make sure that the EICAS caution message FLAPS CONTROL goes off the EICAS.

(2)
Do a test of the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch:
(a)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch, installed on the P2-3 panel, to arm the alternate flap system.
(b)
Make sure that the EICAS caution message FLAPS CONTROL shows.
(c)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the EXT position.

(d)
Make sure that all LE flaps extend. The EICAS must show a crosshatched indication on all six of the leading edge boxes.
(e)
Make sure that all inboard and outboard TE flaps extend. You must see movement on all four of the trailing edge indicator bars on the EICAS.
(f)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the RET position.
NOTE: Do not wait for the flaps to fully extend.

(g)
Make sure that all inboard and outboard TE flaps are retracted as shown on the EICAS.
(h)
One hundred seconds after the TE flaps are retracted, make sure that all of the LE flaps are retracted. The EICAS will change to six white-outlined boxes.
(i)
Put the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the OFF position.
(j)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to disarm the alternate control of the flaps.
(k)
After 7 seconds, make sure that the EICAS caution message FLAPS CONTROL goes off the EICAS.

(3) Make sure the flaps do not extend past the 25-unit position:
NOTE: You can extend the flaps with electrical power if it is

necessary.
(a)
Supply systems 1 and 4 hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).
(b)
Move the flap control lever to the 20-unit position to extend the flaps.
(c)
Remove the system 1 and 4 hydraulic power (Ref 29-11-00/201).
(d)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to arm the alternate control system.
(e)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the EXT position.
(f)
Make sure that the inboard TE flaps extend to 23.5 to 26.5 units and stop.

(g)
Make sure that the outboard TE flaps extend to 23.5 to 26.5 units and stop.
(h)
Turn the ALTN FLAPS EXT/RET switch to the OFF position.
(i)
Move the flap control lever to the 25-unit position.
