 FLAP POWER PACKAGE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  There are two trailing edge (TE) flap power packages on the airplane. They are almost the same but are not interchangeable. The inboard flap power package is installed on the forward bulkhead of the left body gear wheel well. The outboard flap power package is installed on the forward bulkhead of the right body gear wheel well. Each of the flap power package has a control valve, hydraulic motor, gearbox, control module and an alternate electric motor.
 B.  There are two tasks in this procedure. There is one task for the removal and one task for the installation of the flap power package. The procedure has these parts:
 (1)  
The installation of the support equipment

 (2)  
The removal of the electrical connectors

 (3)  
The removal of the flap power package

 (4)  
The installation of the flap power package

 (5)  
The removal of the support equipment

 (6)  
The installation of the electrical connectors

 (7)  
The test of the flap power package.

PF51-009-1, Fishpole Hoist, pneumatic powered, (2 are necessary) (preferred).

Prepare for the Flap Power Package Removal

 (1)  Pressurize hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
 (2)  Put the flap control lever in the UP detent to retract the TE flaps.
 NOTE: It will be easier to adjust a new power package if the flaps

 are retracted.

Release the pressure in hydraulic systems No. 1 and 4
 (AMM 29-11-00/201).
