 (3)  Make sure that the bulb seal between the midflap leading edge and the lower trailing edge panel is compressed as shown on section C-C, Fig. 503.

Fill all clearances between the seal retainer and structure with sealant.

Make sure that the clearance between the foreflap lower trailing edge and the midflap top surface is in the limits on section E-E, Fig. 503.


 NOTE:____This clearance is not adjustable. If the clearance is out of the tolerance, examine the flap for damaged components. Replace flap components if it is necessary.

 (7)  
Measure the horizontal clearance (Fig. 503 dimension A) between the roller and the deflection control track.

 (a)  
If the airplane is on its landing gear, tow the airplane forward for one full turn of the wheels (Ref 09-11-00/201).

 (b)  
Make sure that dimension A is as shown in Fig. 503.


 NOTE: The flaps must be in the full up position.

 (c)  If dimension A is out of tolerance, adjust the shims to get the correct clearance. 1) Increase or decrease the thickness of the shims (0.25 inch
 (0.64 cm) maximum) between the deflection control track and
 the structure. 2) Use bolts with a longer grip length if it is necessary. 3) Install the deflection control track and shims with wet
 primer.
 (d) If you cannot get the correct clearance with a 0.25 inch
 (0.64 cm) shim thickness, add washers between the roller and
 the fitting.
 1) Pressurize hydraulic system No. 1 (Ref 29-11-00/201).
 2) Extend the flaps to 10 units to remove weight from the

 roller. 3) Release the pressure in hydraulic system No. 1
 (Ref 29-11-00/201). 4) Remove the roller from the fitting. 5) Put a BACW10BP10APU washer adjacent to the roller. 6) Put not more than three AN960C1016L washers adjacent to the
 first washer. 7) Make sure the total washer thickness is not more than
 0.21 inch (0.53 cm).
 8) Install the roller in the fitting.

 a)  You can remove one of the two washers adjacent to the nut to permit you to install the cotter pin.

 b)  If you cannot install the cotter pin with one washer removed, drill a new hole 90 degrees from the other hole.
 NOTE: Drill the hole at 0.151-0.141 inch
____ (0.384-0.358 cm) diameter, located 0.10 inch
 (0.25 cm) minimum from the end of the stud.

With the airplane on its landing gear, do a check of the clearance between the midflap and the trailing edge panels.

 (a)  
Make sure the inboard end of the flap touches the trailing edge panel.

 (b)  
Make sure the clearance between the top surface of the midflap and the outboard end of the trailing edge panel is 0.02-0.12 inch (0.05-0.30 cm).

Adjust the trailing edge panel if the clearance is out of tolerance (Ref 57-22-01/501).
