Do these steps to attach the spreader bar and the load positioner to the strongbacks: 1) Follow the instructions on the instruction plate on the
spreader bar to put the adjust-a-leg sling into the correct position.

2) Move the counter weight to make the spreader bar level. 3) Attach the load positioner and spreader bar to the strongbacks.

(2) Remove the outboard aftflap:
CAUTION: DO NOT LET THE AFTFLAP ARMS HIT THE MIDFLAP TRAILING EDGE
_______ WHEN YOU REMOVE THE AFTFLAP ARMS. THE MIDFLAP CAN BE DAMAGED.
(a)
Remove the bolts (14), washers (13, 11, and 9), bushing (8), and nut (10) which attach the two actuator rods (12) to the aftflap (Fig. 402).
(b)
Remove the grease fittings (7) from the pins (5).
(c)
Remove the lockbolts (6), washers (1), and nut (2) which attach the pins in the spindles and aftflap arms.
(d)
Pull the pins from the spindle and aftflap arms.
NOTE: The aftflap weighs approximately 160 pounds (70 kg).

(e)
Remove the outboard aftflap (4).
(f)
Make sure that the aftflap arms do not move.
