Procedure

(1)
Install the bypass valve:
(a)
Lubricate the o-rings (6) and backup rings (5) with the assembly lube or hydraulic fluid.
(b)
Install the o-rings and backup rings in the bypass valve (4).
(c)
Remove the plug from the flap control module (7).
(d)
Install the bypass valve.
NOTE: Install the bypass valve in the flap control module with
____ the electrical connector inboard.
(e)
Install the four screws (28) and washers (29) to attach the bypass valve.
(f)
Install the lockwire on the four screws.

Do a check of the bypass valve operation:

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE
_______ AND TE FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.

(a)
Extend and retract the flaps hydraulically.
(b)
Examine the bypass valve for hydraulic leaks.
(c)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch on the pilot's center panel to put the flap system in alternate control.
(d)
Make sure that the bypass valve manual override lever (27) moves to position 1.
(e)
Move the flap control lever and make sure that the flaps do not move.
(f)
Put the flap control lever in the UP detent.
WARNING: THE TRAILING EDGE FLAPS WILL MOVE TO AGREE WITH THE
_______ CONTROL LEVER POSITION WHEN THE ALTERNATE CONTROL IS DISARMED. MAKE SURE THAT ALL PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE TE AND LE FLAPS.
(g)
Push the ALTN FLAPS ARM switch to put the flaps in primary control.
(h)
Make sure that the bypass valve manual override lever (27) moves to position 2.

Make sure that the landing gear ground locks are installed.
