WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF THE LE AND TE
_______ FLAPS AND FLAP DRIVE MECHANISMS BEFORE YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER. WITH HYDRAULIC POWER REMOVED, THE FLAPS WILL MOVE AUTOMATICALLY BY ELECTRICAL POWER WHEN YOU MOVE THE FLAP CONTROL LEVER.
CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENT CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.

Move the flap control lever to the FLAP UP detent to retract the flaps.

Make sure that the foreflap trailing edge to midflap clearance is as shown in section C-C (Fig. 401).
NOTE:____The foreflap to midflap clearance is not adjustable. If the clearance is out of tolerance, there are defective components. Replace the defective components.

INBOARD FOREFLAP-INSPECTION/CHECK

1. General_______
A. There is one task in this procedure: an inspection of the inboard foreflap.
B. In this procedure, you measure the inner or outer diameter of the parts which attach the foreflap lever to the midflap track. The parts include bushings, bearings and bolts.
C. You must remove or disconnect the foreflap from the midflap to do this procedure. You usually do this procedure before you install the inboard foreflap.

Procedure

(1)
Remove the foreflap (Ref 27-51-02/401).

Examine the parts, which connect the foreflap, for worn areas:
(a)
Remove the parts that will be examined.
(b)
Use a micrometer or a vernier caliper to measure the parts.
(c)
Compare the dimensions you measured with the permitted dimensions shown in Fig. 601.
(d)
Replace the parts that are not in the tolerance.
(e)
Install the parts.
(3)
Install the foreflap (Ref 27-51-02/401).
