WARNING: MAKE SURE TO OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS FOR THE CAPTAIN'S AND
_______ THE FIRST OFFICER'S SEATS BEFORE YOU DO WORK AROUND THEM. A FAILURE TO OPEN THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS CAN CAUSE THE SEATS TO MOVE ACCIDENTALLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P414, Power Distribution Center Panel - Left 1) 414D8, CAPTAINS PWR SEAT
(b)
P415, Power Distribution Center Panel - Right 1) 415H32, F/O PWR SEAT

Remove the stabilizer trim switch:
(a)
Remove the two nuts (11).
(b)
Remove the three screws (12).
(c)
Remove the terminal block cover (2).
(d)
Make a record of the color of the switch wire at each terminal.
(e)
Disconnect the switch wires from the terminals.
1) Use the insertion/extraction tool at the jiffy junction module.
(f)
Remove the two screws (3).
(g)
Attach a wire guide to the end of the switch cable.
(h)
Remove the cable through the switch hole.
(i)
Disconnect the cable and let the wire guide stay in the control wheel handle.

E. Install the Stabilizer Trim Switch

(1)
Install the stabilizer trim switch (Fig. 401):
(a)
Apply talcum powder to the external surface of the cable.
(b)
Attach the cable to the wire guide.
(c)
Pull the cable through the switch hole in the control wheel.
(d)
Disconnect the cable from the wire guide.
(e)
Install the insulator (4) between the switch (1) and the interphone switch wires.
(f)
Pull the cable through the control wheel until the switch and the guard assembly is tightly installed in the control wheel.
(g)
Install the pan head screws (3).
CAUTION:_______DO NOT TIGHTEN THE SCREWS TOO MUCH. IF YOU TIGHTEN THE SCREWS TOO MUCH, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SWITCH HOUSING.
1) Tighten the screws to 4.0 +/- 0.5 pound-inches (0.50 +/-
0.06 newton-meters).
(h)
Make sure there is a minimum of 0.002 inch (0.05 millimeter) clearance between the control wheel handle and the switch.
(i)
Attach the switch wires to the terminals.
1) Use the insertion/extraction tool at the jiffy junction module.
(j)
Install the terminal block cover (2).
(k)
Install the three screws (12) that attach the medallion (9) to the control wheel (7).
(l)
Install the approach plate (10) on the medallion (9): 1) Install the two nuts (11).
