 NOTE: The flaps must be extended for access if adjustment of these

 dimensions is necessary.

 CAUTION:_______MONITOR THE FLAP MOVEMENTS CAREFULLY. THE FLAPS CAN BE DAMAGED BY INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED COMPONENTS.
 (1)  
Make sure that the flaps are fully retracted.

Make sure that the movable fairings are correctly adjusted
 (Ref 27-51-26/501).

 CAUTION:_______ADJUST THE AFTFLAP ACTUATOR RODS (AFT RODS) ONLY. THE NECESSARY DIMENSION MUST BE IN THE LIMITS AT THE TWO ENDS OF THE FLAP TO PREVENT FLAP DAMAGE.
 THE PUSHRODS (FORWARD RODS) MUST BE KEPT AT THE LENGTH SHOWN IN SECTION F-F TO PREVENT ROD LOADS THAT ARE TOO HIGH. THE PUSHRODS CAN BE DIFFERENT FROM THE SPECIFIED LENGTH ONLY WHEN THE ACTUATOR RODS CANNOT BE ADJUSTED TO THE 6.15-6.35 INCH (15.62-16.13 CM) DIMENSION. IF THE LENGTH OF THE PUSHRODS IS CHANGED, IT MUST BE THE SAME ON THE TWO PUSHRODS.
 (3)  
Make sure that the aftflap to midflap dimension is 6.15-6.35 inch (15.62-16.13 cm) at the two ends of the flaps (Fig. 503, sect. C-C).

If the dimension is out of the tolerance, adjust the actuator rods (aft rods) only.

Make sure that the midflap seal between the midflap trailing edge and aftflap is adjusted as shown on section C-C, Fig. 503.

If the seal is out of the tolerance, adjust the seal retainer.

 (7)  S 225-052Make sure that the clearance between the midflap trailing edge and the aftflap top surface, at the supports only, is as shown in section C-C, Fig. 503.
 (8)  S 825-053Add or remove aluminum shims to adjust the clearance.
 (9)  S 435-054If a new midflap was installed, install the closure rib panel at the trailing edge. (a) Set the closure rib on the midflap. (b) Drill the necessary holes. (c) Attach the closure rib to the midflap with rivets.

 After adjustment, make sure that the screws do not touch the aftflap when it is fully retracted.
