4) AIRPLANE LINE NUMBERS 2315 AND LATER; Adjust the preload adjusting nut to get a free position between "X" plus 0.65 inch (16.5 mm) and "X" plus 0.66 inch
(16.8 mm).
(b) For the lower actuator:
1) Make sure the thrust reverser sleeve is in the stowed
position.
2) Measure the distance from the bottom of the head of the actuator pre-load rod-endto the pre-load bracket (Dimension "Z").
3) Move the sleeve aft to remove all pre-load spring force. 4) Make sure the bottom of the head of the actuator pre-load rod contacts the pre-load bracket.
5) AIRPLANE LINE NUMBERS 2314 AND EARLIER; Do the steps that follow: a) If the spring travel (Dimension "Z") is less than 0.60
to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm), adjust the pre-load adjusting nut outward by an amount equal to the amount of spring travel, minus 0.60 to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm).
b) If the spring travel (Dimension "Z") is more than 0.65 to 0.66 inch (16.5-16.8 mm), adjust the pre-load adjusting nut inward by an amount equal to the amount of spring travel, minus 0.60 to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm).
6) AIRPLANE LINE NUMBERS 2315 AND LATER; Do the steps that follow: a) If the spring travel (Dimension "Z") is less than 0.60
to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm), adjust the pre-load adjusting nut outward by an amount equal to the amount of spring travel, minus 0.60 to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm).
b) If the spring travel (Dimension "Z") is more than 0.60 to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm), adjust the pre-load adjusting nut inward by an amount equal to the amount of spring travel, minus 0.60 to 0.66 inch (15.2-16.8 mm).

(15) Apply Loctite 242 to the adjustment nut and jam nut of the actuator preload assembly as follows:
(a)
After the preload assembly has been adjusted, mark the location of the adjustment nut and jam nut.
(b)
Move the adjustment nut and jam nut toward the preload bracket (View E, Fig. 401).
(c)
Apply Loctite 242 to the threads of the preload rod.
NOTE: Apply loctite to the rod threads that will be in
____ contact with the adjustment nut and the jam nut.

(d)
Put the adjustment nut and jam nut back to their initial location.
(e)
Tighten the jam nut to 60 to 95 pound inches (6.9 to 10.4 Nm).
S 224-029-C00
(16)
Do a check of the sensor-to-target gap of the auto restow and not stow proximity sensors (AMM 78-34-03/501).
S 414-030-C00
(17)
Install the access panels on the sleeve.
(a) Tighten the access panel fasteners to 45 to 50 pound-inches
(5.1 to 5.6 Newton meters).
S 414-031-C00
(18)
Install the sleeve-to-strut fairing.
S 414-032-C00
(19)
Install the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
