Procedure (Fig 401)
(1)
Make sure that the hydraulic system is not pressurized.

(2) S 034-004-C00Remove the plugs and caps from the module ports and from the hydraulic lines.
(3) S 434-005-C00If the control valve module you are to install is not a new part (it is the same control valve module removed before), then do the step that follows:
NOTE:____ A new control valve module will have a new filter installed as part of the kit.
(a) Install the cleaned filter screen into the PRESS port.
(4) S 434-030-C00AIRPLANES WITH THE CONTROL VALVE MODULES WITHOUT HYDRAULIC FLOW RESTRICTORS; AIRPLANES BEFORE LINE NUMBER 2228 AND PRE SB 78A1055; Install the unions with new packings in the RET, PRESS, DE, and ST ports. (a) Make sure you lubricate the packing with hydraulic fluid before you install the unions.
(5) S 434-031-C00AIRPLANES WITH THE CONTROL VALVE MODULES WITH HYDRAULIC FLOW RESTRICTORS; AIRPLANES BEFORE LINE NUMBER 2228 AND POST SB 78A1055; Do the steps that follow: (a) Install the unions with new packings in the RET, PRESS, and DE ports. 1) Make sure you lubricate the packing with hydraulic fluid before you install the unions. (b) REPLACEMENT CONTROL VALVE MODULES THAT DO NOT HAVE A RESTRICTOR CHECK VALVE; Install the restrictor check valve with a new O-ring in the ST port (AMM 20-10-17/401).
NOTE:____ Make sure that the large free flow arrow on the restrictor check valve points toward the control valve module.
(6) S 424-007-C00Put the valve module into it's position on the bracket.
(7) S 434-021-C00Loosely install the bolts and washers.

(8) Start to engage the tube coupling nuts on all the module port fittings.
NOTE: Do not tighten the coupling nuts.

When all four coupling nuts are engaged, tighten the module mount bolts.

Tighten all the coupling nuts at the module to the values that follow:
(a)
DE port: 665 to 735 pound-inches (75.1 to 83.0 newton meters)
(b)
PRESS port: 665 to 735 pound-inches (75.1 to 83.0 newton
meters)
(c)
ST port: 475 to 525 pound-inches (53.7 to 59.3 newton meters)
(d)
RET port: 342 to 378 pound-inches (38.6 to 42.7 newton meters)
(e)
When you install the right module, apply a last torque to the coupling nuts at the unions in the pressure and the return lines.

Connect the electrical connectors to the module.

Pressurize the applicable hydraulic reservoir (AMM 29-09-00/201).

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE identifiers and close the circuit breakers for the applicable engines on the circuit breaker panel P6-2.
