Open the circuit breakers and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags for the
applicable engine:

ENG 2 SYNC LOCK - ALTN

Make sure you remove the forward two hinge seal supports from the
upper bifurcation of the thrust reverser (Fig. 401).

Lubricate the shank on the center hinge fitting bolt
(View D, Fig 402) with bearing grease.
NOTE: Do not lubricate the bolt threads.

If the sling and fittings are not attached to the thrust reverser half, connect the upper attach fittings of the sling to the clevis fittings on upper bifurcation (View B, Fig. 403).

Install the lower attach fittings of the sling at the holes in the lower bifurcation of the thrust reverser (View C, Fig. 403).

Attach the sling to the fittings.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE THRUST REVERSER HALF DOES NOT TOUCH THE ADJACENT

Lift the thrust reverser half slowly and align the hinge link with the forward hinge fitting (View C, Fig. 402).

Align the V-groove on the torque box of the thrust reverser with the outer V-blade fitting on the extension ring of the fan frame.
(a) Make sure that the V-blade fitting engages correctly with the mating surface on the thrust reverser.

Install the bolt at the center hinge fitting (View D, Fig. 402) with the head forward, countersunk washer below the head of the bolt with the countersunk surface against the bolt head.

Install the flat washers below the nuts.

Install the bushing in the aft web of the link clevis.
