CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE THRUST REVERSER HALF DOES NOT TOUCH THE ADJACENT
_______ STRUCTURES, EQUIPMENTS AND STANDS. MAKE SURE THE AFT EDGE OF THE THRUST REVERSER HALF DOES NOT TOUCH THE SEAL SEGMENTS OF THE TURBINE EXHAUST SLEEVE.

Lift the thrust reverser half slowly and position the thrust reverser half approximately one-eighth open.

Align the forward and center fittings on the thrust reverser, NAC STA 206.5 and NAC STA 224.0, (Views C and D, Fig. 402) with the fittings on the strut.

Align the V-groove on the torque box of the thrust reverser with the outer V-blade fitting on the extension ring of the fan frame.
(a) Make sure that the V-blade fitting engage correctly with the
mating surface on the thrust reverser.

(13) Install the center hinge bolt (View D, Fig. 402) from the forward side.
NOTE: Before you install the second half of the thrust
____ reverser, apply a load to lift the aft part of the installed thrust reverser half. This decreases the isolator compression and lets the hinge bolts of the second reverser half to be put in smoothly.
(a)
Install the countersunk washer below the head of the bolt with the countersunk surface against the bolt head.
(b)
Install the plain washers before installing the self locking
nut.
1) Make sure the locking mechanism of the nut is OK.

(14) Install the forward hinge bolt (View C, Fig. 402) from the aft side.
NOTE: Move the sleeve through part of its travel in the aft
____
direction to permit better access to the hinge joint
(AMM 78-31-00/201). Use the wrench set for the thrust
reverser hinge to install the bolt.
(a)
Install the countersunk washers below the bolt head with the
countersunk surface against the bolt head.
(b)
Install the plain washers before installing the self locking
nut.
1) Make sure the locking mechanism of the nut is OK.

CAUTION: WHEN YOU CLOSE THE LEFT HAND THRUST REVERSER HALF, MAKE SURE
_______ YOU HAVE ADEQUATE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE MAIN ENGINE CONTROL BOX (MEC), THE THRUST REVERSER INNER VEE BAND, AND THE FAIRLEAD BRACKET FOR THE ACTUATOR HYDRAULIC TUBES AT APPROXIMATELY NAC WL 85. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.

Lower the thrust reverser half to the closed, free-hanging position.

Apply standard torque to the forward and center hinge bolts.
