AIRPLANES BEFORE LINE NUMBER 1741 AND WITHOUT SB 78A1048; Examine the track sliders and liners on each thrust reverser half (Fig 603):
NOTE: The Service Bulletin 78A1048 replaces the auxiliary
____ slider track liner. This will reduce premature wear of the auxiliary track and slider fittings.
(a) Examine the lower auxiliary slider/track interface with a flashlight to determine the extent of the lower auxiliary slider engagement. 1) Hold the translating sleeve outer panel on both sides of
the lower auxiliary slider fitting. 2) Pull down firmly with your full upper body weight.
NOTE: This will determine the ability of the lower
____ auxiliary slider to be retained in the auxiliary slider/track interface.

3) Record the extent of the engagement (Fig 603). 4) Use the manual procedure to move the sleeve to within four inches of the retracted position (AMM 78-31-00/201). 5) Hold the translating sleeve outer panel on both sides of the lower auxiliary slider fitting. 6) Pull down firmly with your full upper body weight (approximately 75 pounds (34 kilograms)) .
NOTE: This will determine the ability of the lower
____ auxiliary slider to be retained in the auxiliary slider/track interface.
7) Record the extent of the engagement (Fig 603).
8) If the slider cannot be pulled from the track in either position, continue revenue service and examine the slider at intervals as follows: a) If engagement is 50% or more in the extended position,
examine again within 1000 flight cycles. b) If engagement is less than 50% but greater than 30%, examine again within 535 flight cycles.
c) If engagement is less than 30% in the extended position, examine again within 175 flight cycles and schedule the repair of the slider and track liner at the next convenient maintenance opportunity when manpower, facilities, and spares permit.
9) If the slider can be pulled from the track in the extended position but not in the retracted position, put the slider in the track. a) Do the deactivation procedure for flight dispatch
(AMM 78-31-00/201). b) Repair the worn slider and track liner before you activate the thrust reverser.
10) If the lower auxiliary slider can be pulled from the track at both the extended and the retracted positions, repair the worn slider and track liner before the next flight.

(13) Use the manual procedure to move each sleeve to the retracted position (AMM 78-31-00/201).
