Do not do these steps if you are to install the same thrust reverser half or halves and you have not changed the engine.
(a) Remove the shims from the upper three compression pads on each left and right thrust reverser half and from the three lower compression pads on the left half (View A, Fig. 402).
NOTE: Do not remove the shims from the pads adjacent to the
____ five latch fittings on the left half.
(b)
Apply a piece of clay approximately 0.20 inch (5.1 mm) thick to the nine compression pads.
(c)
Apply bearing grease to the surfaces (or other suitable release agent) which will contact with the clay when the cowl/reverser halves are closed.
WARNING: OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS IN AMM 78-31-00/201 TO OPEN THE
_______ THRUST REVERSERS. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE INSTRUCTIONS, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(d)
Close the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(e)
Make sure that the V-blade and groove surfaces on the extension ring of the fan frame and reverser are fully engaged.
(f)
Close all five latches.
NOTE:____Starts at the forward latch and continues to aft. Use a 50 to 55 pounds (22.7 to 25 kg) closing force as measured one inch (25.4 mm) from latch handle end. If it is necessary, use the hex key wrench to turn the adjustment screw, installed in the end of latch hook, to get the correct closing force.
