WARNING:_______ DO NOT GO INTO THE FAN DUCT WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER IS IN THE
OPEN POSITION. YOUR WEIGHT CAN CAUSE THE HOLD OPEN ROD FOR THE
THRUST REVERSER TO BREAK. INJURY TO YOU AND DAMAGE TO THE
EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.

Get access to the blocker door hinges through the aft end of the thrust reverser fan duct.

Do a check for each blocker door that has too much movement.
(a)
From the record, find the blocker door location of the blocker doors that had more than 0.008 inch (0.2 mm) of forward movement and/or more than 0.16 inch side movement.
(b)
Examine the applicable blocker door hinges for these conditions. 1) Hinge bolts with loose nuts. 2) Bolt shanks that are too long.
NOTE: A bolt with a long shank and with the nut tightened
____ cannot push the plain bushing and the spherical bearing against the flanged bushing of the blocker door.
3) Axial movement of the spherical bearing.
4) Worn bushings in the hinge.
5) The race of the spherical bearing is loose in the hinge fitting of the door. 6) The hinge fittings of the door has cracks or other damage.
(c)
If you find cracks or other damage, replace the blocker door or the components of the hinge (AMM 78-31-06/401).
(d)
If the hinge nuts are loose, tighten the hinge nuts to the correct value (AMM 78-31-06/401).
(e)
If the bushings in the hinge are worn, remove the blocker door for a detail check. 1) Use the wear limit data to find if the wear is more than
the design limits (Fig. 601). 2) Replace the worn bushings.

Install all blocker doors that were removed (AMM 78-31-06/601).
