6. Open the Thrust Reverser - Manual Procedure

A. General
(1) The pump procedure is preferred. Use the pump procedure unless there is a failure in the hand pump or if a hand pump is unavailable. If you must open and close teh reverser half manually, use at least two persons to safely handle the reverser half.

_______ IN THIS SEQUENCE: RETRACT THE LEADING EDGE AND DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURES FOR THE LEADING EDGE. IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THE STEPS, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE THE THRUST REVERSER SLEEVE TO MOVE TO THE DEPLOYED
_______ POSITION WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE AND THE LEADING EDGE FLAP.
(1) If you will open the reverser half on the inboard side of the engine, make sure the leading edge devices are in this configuration:

Fully retracted
(b)
Deactivated
1) Do this procedure: Leading Edge Flaps and Slats Hydraulic Systems A, B, and Standby Depressurization (AMM 27-81-00/201).

(2) If the reverser half will be open for a long time (during engine removal and installation), use tape to keep the applicable leading edge flap (No. 1 or No. 4) in the retracted position.
