Open the thrust reverser:
(a)
Open the five latches along the bottom centerline of the thrust reverser.
(b)
Use a minimum of two persons to push the reverser half open from the forward end.
WARNING:_______DO NOT OPEN THE REVERSER HALF TOO QUICKLY. IF YOU OPEN THE REVERSER HALF TOO QUICKLY, YOU CAN CAUSE A VACUUM IN THE REVERSER OPENING ACTUATOR WHICH WILL STOP THE SNUBBING ACTION OF THE ACTUATOR. THIS CAN CAUSE THE REVERSER HALF TO SUDDENLY CLOSE WHEN THE ACTUATOR LOCK IS RELEASED. INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR IF THE REVERSER HALF SUDDENLY CLOSES.
(c)
Use a stable force to lift the reverser half to the fully open position. 1) Make sure you hear the lock collar move on the reverser
opening actuator. 2) Make sure the word "LOCKED" shows on the bottom of the extended piston of the reverser opening actuator.
(d)
Install the actuator lock on the extended piston rod (Fig. 202).

WARNING: USE MUCH CAUTION WHEN YOU CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER IN LARGE
_______ WINDS OR IN SUDDEN WIND CONDITIONS. IF YOU DO NOT USE CAUTION, INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
CAUTION: DO NOT CAUSE THE THRUST REVERSER SLEEVE TO MOVE TO THE DEPLOYED

POSITION WHEN THE THRUST REVERSER IS OPEN. THIS CAN CAUSE
DAMAGE TO THE TRANSLATING SLEEVE AND THE LEADING EDGE FLAP.
DAMAGE TO THE FIRESEALS ON THE TURBINE EXHAUST SLEEVE CAN OCCUR WHEN YOU CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER. MAKE SURE THERE IS NO INTERFERENCE BETWEEN THE FIRESEALS AND THE THRUST REVERSER.
(1) Close the thrust reverser:
WARNING: DO NOT BE BETWEEN THE REVERSER HALVES OR BETWEEN A
_______ REVERSER HALF AND THE ENGINE DURING THE OPERATION OF THE REVERSER OPENING ACTUATOR. INJURY TO PERSONS CAN OCCUR IF THE REVERSER HALF SUDDENLY CLOSES.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEAR THE THRUST
_______ REVERSER WHEN YOU CLOSE IT. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT THAT ARE NEAR THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE DAMAGE WHEN YOU CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER.
(a)
Use a minimum of two persons to push the reverser half in the open direction from the forward end.
(b)
Remove the actuator lock from the extended piston rod (Fig. 202).
(c)
Push the lock collar up to disengage it.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THE V-BLADE FULLY ENGAGES THE V-GROOVE WHEN YOU
_______ CLOSE THE THRUST REVERSER. IF THE V-BLADE AND THE V-GROOVE ARE NOT ALIGNED, DAMAGE TO THE THRUST REVERSER CAN OCCUR.
(d) Slowly let the reverser half close.
NOTE: When you feel the snubbing action of the reverser
____ opening actuator, you can let the reverser half fall free.
