E. Procedure

(1)
Make sure that the flap seal door deflectors are installed on the
inboard side of the translating sleeve (AMM 78-31-09/401).

(2)
Make sure that the upper and lower slider shoes and the mating
surfaces on the track liners are fully free of unwanted material.

(3)
Make sure that the thrust reverser is closed (AMM 78-31-00/201).

(4)
On the replacement sleeve, put tape on the blocker doors and the
links in the retracted position.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF PERSONS ARE AVAILABLE TO

HANDLE THE SLEEVE DURING INSTALLATION. THE SLEEVE WEIGHS
APPROXIMATELY 170 POUNDS (77.3 KG). INJURY CAN OCCUR.

Lift the sleeve into its position and engage the upper and lower
sliders on the sleeve with the tracks on the upper and lower
bifurcations.
(6)
Move the sleeve forward and be careful not to cock the sleeve.

Remove the tape from the blocker doors and the links.

(9) Connect the drag links to the fittings as follows:
(a)
Connect the links to the fittings with the parts shown
in View D, Fig. 401.
(b)
Tighten the nut to 20 pound-inches (2.3 N.M).
(c)
Install a cotter pin in the nut.
NOTE: The torque on the nut can be increased to
____ 30 pound-inches (3.4 N.m) if it is required to install the cotter pin.
(d) Put the sealant on the nut and the cotter pin to the outer
diameter of the washer and the end of the bolt to prevent
cotter pin movement.

Remove the tape from the actuator rod ends.

Connect the rod ends to the actuator fitting (View C, Fig. 401).
(a) Tighten the nut to 90 to 125 pound-inches (10.2 to 14.1 Nm).

(13) Make sure that the sleeve moves smoothly:
(a)
Manually move the sleeve to the fully extended position
(AMM 78-31-00/201).
(b)
Manually move the sleeve to the fully retracted position
(AMM 78-31-00/201).

(14) Do a check of the preload adjustment at each of the three actuators as follows (View E, Fig. 401):
