(a) Open the air conditioning (A/C) access panel for the applicable engine: 1) For engine No. 1, open the left A/C access panel.

2) For engine No. 2, open the right A/C access panel.
(b)
Move the manual shutoff valve lever clockwise on the control valve module for the thrust reverser.
(c)
Put the lockpin C78004-2 through the manual shutoff valve lever and into the control valve module for the thrust reverser.
NOTE: The lockpin C78004-2 is included as part of the
____ lockpin kit C78004-1, which is part of the flyaway kit 67-73733-1.

(3) You must do these steps to make sure the sync lock is in the locked position on the affected engine.
(a)
For the left engine, open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: 1) On the P6 panel:
a) ENG 1 SYNC LOCK
2) P6-2 Load Control Center
a) ENG 1 THR REV CONT
(b)
For the right engine, open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags: 1) On the P6 panel:
a) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK
b) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK-ALTN
2) P6-2 Load Control Center
a) ENG 2 THR REV CONT
b) AIRPLANES WITH SYNC LOCKS;
ENG 2 THR REV CONT SYS - ALTN
CAUTION: DO NOT USE AN EXTENSION BAR OR OTHER TOOLS TO MOVE THE
_______ UNLOCK HANDLE. IF YOU USE AN EXTENSION BAR OR OTHER TOOLS, DAMAGE TO THE UNLOCK HANDLE OR ACTUATOR CAN OCCUR.
(c) On engine No. 1(2), move the manual unlock handle forward on the upper actuator of the left and right reverser halves
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THE SYNC LOCKS LOCK THE THRUST REVERSER. IT IS NOT PERMITTED TO DEACTIVATE A THRUST REVERSER WITH A NON-OPERATIONAL SYNC LOCK ON THE AFFECTED THRUST REVERSER.

(d) Make sure the reverser sleeves do not extend more than
approximately 0.06 inch (1.52 mm).
NOTE:____ If the sync locks do not lock the sleeves, the sleeves
will move aft more than approximately 0.06 inch
(1.52 mm ).
1) If the sleeve moves more than approximately 0.06 inch (1.52
mm), then the sync lock did not lock the sleeve. It is not
permitted to deactivate the thrust reverser for flight
dispatch if the sync locks do not lock the sleeves.

ú (4) Extend the sleeve 0.20-0.60 inch (5.0-15.0 mm) aft of the fully
ú retracted position.

ú NOTE:____ This will make it easy to install the deactivation
ú turnbuckle.

ú OCCUR IF A THRUST REVERSER SLEEVE MOVES AND TOUCHES THEM.

CAUTION:_______ MAKE SURE THE THRUST REVERSER IS CLOSED AND LATCHED. IF
ú THE THRUST REVERSER IS NOT CLOSED AND LATCHED, AND THE
ú THRUST REVERSER SLEEVE MOVES, DAMAGE TO THE
ú SLEEVE-TO-STRUT FAIRINGS WILL OCCUR.

ú (a) Make sure that the thrust reverser is closed and latched.
ú (b) Make sure that the lockpin C78004-2 is still installed in the
