 retainer bolts, and secondary deactivation pins from the
 deactivation kit 65-73733-3 in the flyaway kit.
 1)  Place the sleeve plug that was removed from the translating
 ú  sleeve from the deactivation kit in the flyaway kit.
 (e)  Connect the forward end of the deactivation turnbuckle to the
 cascade support ring with one indicator pin.
 NOTE:____ To make sure the deactivation turnbuckle will have the
 maximum adjustment, the threads of the two rod ends must
 be equally engaged (with a tolerance of one thread) when
 the deactivation turnbuckle is installed.
 (f)  Connect the aft end of the deactivation turnbuckle to the
 sleeve fitting with the other indicator pin.
 ú  (g)  Make sure that the lockpin C78004-2 is still installed in the
 ú  manual shutoff valve lever on the control valve module.
 ú  (h)  Slowly move the No. 1 or 2 reverse thrust lever up and aft to
 ú  the extended position to unlock the sync lock.

 CAUTION:_______ DO NOT USE AN EXTENSION BAR OR OTHER TOOLS TO MOVE THE
 ú  UNLOCK HANDLE.  IF YOU USE AN EXTENTION BAR OR OTHER
 ú  TOOLS, DAMAGE TO THE UNLOCK HANDLE OR ACTUATOR CAN OCCUR.
 ú
 (i)  On the upper actuator of the thrust reverser half, move the
 manual unlock handle forward.
 NOTE:____ This unlocks the actuator and will make it easy to
 install the secondary deactivation pin.
 (j)  Unlock the sync lock:
 1)  For the left engine, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close
 this circuit breaker:
 a)  On the P6 panel:
 - ENG 1 SYNC LOCK
 2)  For the right engine, remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags and
 close these circuit breakers:
 a)  On the P6 panel:
 - ENG 2 SYNC LOCK
 - ENG 2 SYNC LOCK-ALTN
 (k)  Adjust the translating sleeve to align the secondary fitting:
 1)  Use an open-end wrench to turn the deactivation turnbuckle
 body, and to move the sleeve.
 a)  Pull the sleeve until the secondary deactivation pin
 can be installed through the sleeve and in the fitting
 on the stationary structure.

2)  Use a wrench with a 3/8-inch square drive to tighten the secondary deactivation pin. a) Tighten the secondary deactivation pin to 400
 pound-inches (45 Newton meters).
 3)  Install lockwire from the deactivation turnbuckle to the head of the retainer bolt and to the indicator pin retainer.
 4)  Install lockwire from the head of the retainer bolt for the
 other indicator pin to the retainer. 5) Remove the rubber plug from the access panel. 6) AIRPLANES BEFORE LINE NUMBER 1535;
 Attach the rubber plug to the stowage bracket for the deactivation turnbuckle with the lockwire.
 7)  AIRPLANES LINE NUMBER 1535 AND ON; Put the rubber plug in the deactivation kit in the flyaway kit.
 (l)  Install the access panel with the indicator pin through the access panel. 1) Tighten the access panel fasteners to 45 to 50 pound-inches
 (5.1 to 5.6 Newton meters).

Do this deactivation procedure again for the translating sleeve on the opposite thrust revereser half.

Remove the lockpin C78004-2 from the manual shutoff valve lever on the control valve module. Make sure that the lever moves to the normal position.


 NOTE: Do not close the circuit breakers you opened during the
____
 thrust reverser deactivation procedure for ground
 maintenance.

 (8)  Close the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).
