Operate the pump to lift the thrust reverser to the half open position.

Open the pump valve and let the thrust reverser lower.

Close the pump valve.
(f)
Operate the pump to lift the thrust reverser to the fully opened position.
(g)
Listen for the sound of the actuation of the actuator lock collar.

Make sure the word LOCKED comes into view on the lower end of the extended piston.
(i)
Operate the pump to release the load on the actuator.
(j)
Push up on the lock collar to disengage the actuator lock.
(k)
Open the pump valve and let the thrust reverser lower.
(l)
Disconnect the pump from the actuator.
(m)
Install the dust cap on the inlet fitting.

(4) Close all five latches along the bottom centerline of the thrust reverser.
NOTE: With the latching tool, pull the thrust reverser halves

THE ACTUATOR EXHIBITS ANY SIGNS OF REDUCED SNUBBING ACTION. REDUCED SNUBBING ACTION CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT. REDUCED SNUBBING ACTION IS INDICATED BY RAPID RETRACTION OF THE ACTUATOR FOR MORE THAN 0.5 INCHES OF ACTUATOR STROKE.
(1) Remove the actuator from the airplane (AMM 78-31-08/401).
(2) S 864-024-C00Perform these steps to prepare the hand pump for use. (a) Make sure there is engine oil in the hand pump. (b) Close the return valve on the hand pump. (c) Connect the hand pump hose to the quick disconnect fitting on the inlet port of the actuator. Make sure oil does not spill from the hose during connection.
(3) S 864-035-C00Make sure the inlet fitting for the actuator is turned up.
(4) S 864-025-C00Pump oil into the actuator until the rod is fully extended. Pump
until the rod is fully extended and a change in stroke resistance is present in the pump .

Do one more additional pump stroke.
