 (5)  Do the following steps to check the primary and alternate thrust reverser circuits on engine No. 2.
 NOTE: The sync lock installation added an alternate circuit to
____ engine No. 2 and the primary and alternate circuits require testing to make sure the No. 2 thrust reversers are operating normal.
 Make sure you monitor the lights for engine No. 2.
 (a)  
Open the circuit breakers to make sure the primary circuits are operational: 1) On the P6 panel:

 a) ENG 2 THR REV CONT SYS - ALTN b) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK - ALTN

 (b)  
If not already done, do the paragraph: Prepare for the System Tests.

 (c)  
Make sure that all lights on the EAU are off.

 (d)  
Slowly move the engine No. 2 reverse thrust lever up and aft to the extended position.


 NOTE: Do not move the thrust reverser through cycles too
____ quickly. The hydraulic fuses can set if the time between cycles is less than 10 seconds. If necessary, reset the fuse(s) to their initial condition. To do this, remove the pressure from the applicable hydraulic system.
 No. 2 reverser light will come on momentarily when you move the thrust lever.
 1)  Make sure that the reverser sleeves on engine No. 2 move to the fully extended position in 2 seconds with the external hydraulic power source, or in 3 seconds with the airplane electric motor pumps.
 2) Make sure that the No. 2 REVERSER UNLOCKED light on the center instrument panel comes on. 3) Make sure that the No. 2 REVERSER light on the aft overhead panel remains off.
 (e)  Move the reverse thrust lever for engine No. 2 forward and down to retract the thrust reversers. 1) Make sure that the sleeves on the engine No. 2 reverser
 fully retracts in 4 seconds with the external hydraulic power source, or in in 5 seconds if the airplane electric motor pumps are used.

2)  Make sure that the No. 2 REVERSER light on the aft overhead panel comes on for approximately 10 seconds and then goes off.
 3) Make sure that the MASTER CAUTION lights on the light shield remain off. 4) Make sure that the No. 2 REVERSER UNLOCKED light goes off.
 (f)
Close the circuit breakers for engine No. 2 as follows:

 1)  On the P6 panel: a) ENG 2 THR REV CONT SYS - ALTN b) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK - ALTN

 (g)  
Open the circuit breakers to make sure the alternate circuits are operational. 1) On the P6 panel:


 a)  ENG 2 THR REV CONT SYS
 b)  ENG 2 SYNC LOCK
 2)  Slowly move the engine No. 2 reverse thrust lever up and aft to the extended position. a) Make sure that the reverser sleeves on engine No. 2
 move to the fully extended position. 3) Move the engine No. 2 reverse thrust lever forward and down to the retracted position.
 (h)  Close the circuit breakers as follows:
 1)  On the P6 panel:
 a) ENG 2 THR REV CONT SYS
 b) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK

 (6)  Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition (or continue with the tests).

 6.  Standby Operation Test______________________
 NOTE: During this procedure, spillage of hydraulic fluid will be prevented
____ if you connect the A system return to a hydraulic bench or hydrant. If the A system return is not connected to a hydraulic bench, use the depressurization valve to depressurize the A system reservoir. Use the sampling valve to drain the reservoir down to the REFILL level. If the A system return is not connected to a hydraulic bench, do not operate the thrust reverser more than one time on standby without redraining the A system reservoir to the REFILL level. If more than one cycle of operation is desired, the reservoir can be drained to the half full level (as indicated on the cockpit gauge). This permits three cycles of operation before redraining is necessary.
