 NOTE:____ Be careful to make sure you do not score the actuator piston rod and damage the hydraulic return line.
 (i) (j)  Connect the actuator rod end with the bolt, the washer, the bushing and the nut (View C, Fig. 401). 1) Tighten the nut to 90 to 125 pound-inches (10.2 to 14.1 Nm).Turn the worm gear shaft with a 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) square drive inserted into the flex shaft port to align the main support trunnion on the actuator with the gimbal ring (View E, Fig. 401) in a longitudinal direction.

(k) (l)  Do a check between the trunnion and the gimbal ring for 0.000 to 0.003 inch (0.000 to 0.076 mm) clearance.If it is necessary, install shims to obtain the gap.
 NOTE:____ Shims must be equal on the two sides within 0.003 inch (0.076 mm).
 (m) (n) (o)  Install the retainers and the bolts. 1) Tighten the bolts.Install the sync lock (AMM 78-34-10/401).Connect the flexible hydraulic lines to the upper RET (retract) and upper EXT (extend) ports. 1) Tighten the flexible line connections at the upper actuator to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm).
 NOTE:____ Tighten the hydraulic connections that have been disconnected to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm), then loosen and retighten them to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm). Fittings with O-rings should not be double-torqued.
 (p)  2) Loosen and tighten the connections again to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm).Connect the hydraulc line to the lower RET (retract) port. 1) Tighten the hydraulic line connection at the upper actuator to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm).
 NOTE:____ Tighten the hydraulic connections that have been disconnected to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm), then lossen and retighten them to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm). Fittings with O-rings should not be double-torqued.
 2)  Loosen and tighten the connection again to 255 pound-inches (28.9 Nm).

(q)  
Do these steps to temporarily connect the flex shaft to the lower EXT (extend) port of the actuator (this allows the sleeve to be manually translated). 1) Push the tube coupling nut and the adapter (View B,

 Fig. 401) along the tube because it is necessary to expose the flex shaft end. 2) Engage the flex shaft to the worm gear shaft inside the EXT (extend) port. 3) Engage the tube coupling nut 1 to 2 turns.

 (r)  
Install the deploy proximity sensor (AMM 78-34-03/401).

 (3)  Do the steps that follow to install the center and bottom actuator.
 (a)  
For the center actuator, do the steps that follow: 1) Remove the union from the upper RET (retract) port. 2) Install the orifice with a new O-ring. 3) Install the cap on the union in the lower RET port.

 (b)  
For the bottom actuator, do the steps that follow:

 1)  Install the caps on the lower EXT (extend) and RET (retract) ports.

 (c)  
Pull on the rod end to extend the actuator rod end 10 to 12 inches (254 to 305 mm).

 (d)  
Insert the actuator, the rod end first, through the torque box, the gimbal ring and the cascade aft support ring.


 NOTE: Be careful to make sure you do not score the
____ actuator piston rod and damage the hydraulic return line.
 (e)  
Connect the actuator rod end with the bolt, the washer, the bushing and the nut (View C, Fig. 401). 1) Tighten the nut to 90 to 125 pound-inches

 (10.2 to 14.1 Newton meters).

 (f)  
Turn the worm gear shaft with a 3/16 inch (4.76 mm) square drive inserted into the flex shaft port to align the main support trunnion on the actuator with the gimbal ring (View E, Fig. 401) in a longitudinal direction.
