(4) Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-04/201).
D. Remove the Sync Lock (Fig 401)

(1) Disconnect the electrical connector from the sync lock.
(a) Install caps on the electrical connectors.

(2) Remove the sync lock bracket:
(a)
Remove the two bolts from the sync lock.
(b)
Remove the two bolts from the actuator to remove the bracket.
S 024-008-C00
(3) Remove the sync lock:
(a)
Hold the sync lock on the wrench flats while you loosen the torque nut to remove the sync lock.
(b)
Install caps on the openings of the sync lock and the upper hydraulic actuator.

C. Install the Sync Lock
S 034-010-C00
(1)
Remove the caps from the openings on the sync lock and the upper hydraulic actuator.
S 424-011-C00

Put the sync lock in position so that the wire connector points aft and down.

Hand tighten the torque nut so that the lock is snug, but can still be rotated by hand.

Do the steps that follow to find the correct position of the sync lock before you tighten the torque nut.
(a)
Install the bracket on the actuator.
1) Hand tighten the bolts on the actuator so that the bracket stays in position.
(b)
Install the bolts through the bracket in the sync lock.
1) Hand tighten the bolts so that the sync lock stays in position.
(c)
Hold the sync lock in the correct position and remove the bracket.
S 424-016-C00
(5)
Use the wrench flats on the sync lock body to hold the sync lock in the correct position while you tighten the torque nut to 900 in-lbs.

(6)
Install the bracket again with the four bolts.
(a) Install lockwire to the bolts.
