(21) If unusual or too much noise is heard from the rotating flex shafts (during a movement of the sleeve when you use the Power procedure), remove the rotating flex shafts (AMM 78-31-04/401).
(a) Do a visual inspection of the rotating flex shafts for kinks, strand separation, or broken wires.

Replace the rotating flex shaft for damage as follows: 1) More than three wires are broken in a layer 2) Strand separation has occurred 3) Kinks are so bad that they cannot be made straight.
(c)
Install and adjust the rotating flex shaft (AMM 78-31-04/401).

(22) Do a visual check of the bullnose seal and fairing (Fig. 602).
(a)
Partially extend the thrust reverser sleeve approximately 6 to 8 inches (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(b)
Assemble an extended mirror for the inspection:
1) Attach a mirror at a 90 degree angle to one end of an extension rod.
(c)
Put the extended mirror into the aft end of the thrust reverser.
(d)
Use the extended mirror and a flashlight to examine the bullnose seal and fairing on the translating sleeve of the thrust reverser. 1) Visually examine the bullnose seal and fairing for material
which is gone, holes, and to see if it is worn.
