PROXIMITY SENSORS - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES
_________________________________________
1. General
_______
A. This procedure gives the data for the tasks that follow:
(1)
Remove the proximity sensors.
(2)
Install the proximity sensors.
B.
The proximity sensors are on the thrust reverser halves.
(1)
These sensors are components of the wire bundle on the thrust reverser.
(2)
You will find the function of the not-stowed sensor and the auto-restow sensor in the thrust reverser indicating system (AMM 78-36-00, Description and Operation).
TASK 78-34-03-004-001-C00
2. Remove the Proximity Sensors
____________________________
A. General
CAUTION: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU DO NOT SPLICE A PROXIMITY SENSOR
_______ INTO THE WIRE BUNDLE. SPLICES CAN CAUSE INCORRECT INDICATION.
(1)
If you have to replace one proximity sensor, it is recommended that you replace all of the proximity sensors on the thrust reverser half.
(2)
If you replace one proximity sensor, it is recommended that the leads be reterminated at the connector.
(a)
You must disassemble the wire bundle to do this.
(b)
After you replace the proximity sensor, you must reassemble the wire bundle to its original configuration.

WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE
_______ THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1)
Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).
S 864-003-C00
(2)
Manually extend the thrust reverser to access the aft side of the torque box of the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
S 014-004-C00
(3)
Open the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201).
S 024-005-C00
(4)
Do these steps to remove the Not-stow/Auto-restow sensors
(Fig. 401):
(a)
Disconnect the electrical connector from the strut bracket. 1) For the left thrust reverser, disconnect the electrical connector D5114P from the strut bracket.
2) For the right thrust reverser, disconnect the elecrical connector D5116P from the strut bracket.
(b)
Remove all of the clamps from the wire bundle.
(c)
If you replace only one sensor, the pin numbers for the wire leads that must be removed are:
