 WARNING: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU REMOVE AND INSTALL THE THRUST REVERSER IN
_______ SUDDEN STRONG WINDS CONDITIONS. DO NOT USE THE HOLD-OPEN ROD TO HOLD THE COWLING IN THE OPEN POSITION IF THE WIND VELOCITY IS MORE THAN 60 KNOTS. INJURY CAN OCCUR.
 DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Do the deactivation procedure for thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (2)  
Remove hydraulic power (AMM 29-15-00/201).

 (3)  
Remove the pressure from the applicable hydraulic reservoir (AMM 29-09-00/201).

 (4)  
Open the circuit breakers and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags for the applicable engine as follows:

 (a)  P6 Load Control Center
 1) ENG 1 THR REV IND SYS
 2) ENG 2 THR REV IND SYS
 3) ENG 1 SYNC LOCK
 4) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK
 5) ENG 2 SYNC LOCK - ALTN

 (5)  
Remove the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/401).

 (6)  
Remove the forward segment of the reverser sleeve-to-strut fairing.

 (7)  
Remove the forward fairing (AMM 54-32-01/401).

 (8)  
Manually extend the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (9)  
Remove the forward two hinge fitting seal supports (Fig. 401).

 (10)
 Manually retract the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 Put the protective mat on the top surface of the sleeve and attach the mat to the sleeve with tape.

 If you remove an inboard thrust reverser half, wrap a protective mat around the wing leading edge adjacent to the thrust reverser half.

 Attach the mat to the leading edge with tape.

 (14) Open the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (15) Remove these items at the aft hinge fitting (View E, Fig. 402) as follows:
 NOTE: Keep the forward and aft halves of the slider together as a
____ set. The slider halves must be examined for wear before you install them again. The minimum distance between the curved surfaces of the hinge slider is 0.978 inch (24.84 mm).
 NOTE: If you install the same thrust reverser again, measure
____ the distance between the inner curved surfaces of the hinge track fitting. The maximum permitted distance between the curved surfaces is 1.067 inches (27.10 mm), (Fig. 402, sheet 6). The maximum gap permitted between the hinge slider and the hinge track is 0.067 inch (1.70 mm).
