 WARNING: DO THE DEACTIVATION PROCEDURE TO PREVENT THE OPERATION OF THE
_______ THRUST REVERSER. THE ACCIDENTAL OPERATION OF THE THRUST REVERSER COULD CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (1)  
Do the deactivation procedure for the thrust reverser for ground maintenance (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (2)  
Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).

 (3)  
Remove the lower, middle, and upper actuator access doors for the applicable reverser half and engine.

 (4)  
Do a check of the locking actuator for correct adjustment.

 (a)  
Make sure the thrust reverser sleeve is in the retracted position, locked, and with all the hydraulic pressure removed (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (b)  
Make sure that the rig pin can be freely installed through the feedback bracket and the lever of the locking actuator.

 (c)  
Make sure that the clearance at the gland nut of the locking actuator is in the range of 0.007-0.033 inches (0.18-0.84 mm) (Fig. 601).

 (d)  
If you cannot freely install the rig pin or if the gland nut
 clearance is not in this range, adjust the actuator
 (AMM 78-31-03/501).

 CAUTION:_______DO NOT ADJUST THE NON-LOCKING ACTUATORS ON-WING. IF YOU TRY TO ADJUST THE NON-LOCKING ACTUATOR ON-WING, DAMAGE TO THE ACTUATOR CAN OCCUR.
 (5)  Do a check of the gland nut clearance on the non-locking actuators.
 (a)  
Make sure the thrust reverser sleeve is in the retracted position, locked, and with all the hydraulic pressure removed (AMM 78-31-00/201).

 (b)  
Gland nut clearance on the non-locking actuators of 0.000-0.080 inches (0.0-2.0 mm) is permitted.

 (c)  
If the gland nut clearance on the non-locking actuators is more than 0.080 (2.0 mm), then do the steps that follow: 1) Remove and re-install the synchronous flex-shafts between


 the actuators (AMM 78-31-04/401).

 (6)  Install the lower, middle, and upper actuator access doors for the applicable reverser half and engine.
 (a)  Tighten the access door fasteners to 45 to 55 pound-inches
 (5.1 to 6.2 Newton meters).

 (7)  For each thrust reverser half, do a test for the REVERSER UNLOCK light:
 (a)  
Move the No. 1(2) reverse thrust lever to the extend (deploy) postion to unlock the sync lock.

 (b)  
Move the manual unlock-handle forward to unlock the locking
 actuator of the appilcable sleeve (Fig. 601, sheet 2).


 (c)  
The sleeve moves slightly aft and the REVERSER UNLOCK light for the applicable engine comes on. 1) If the REVERSER UNLOCK light did not come on, make sure the

 synchronous flex shafts are correctly installed and adjusted (AMM 78-31-03/401).

 (d)  
Make sure there is no damage to the actuator push-off springs for the thrust reverser (Fig. 601, Sheet 4).

 (8)  Manually move each sleeve to the extended position (AMM 78-31-00/201).
