3) Remove or add layers of lamination from each shim so that the shim thickness is the same as the measured positive value.
NOTE: The shims are made from 0.0025 inch (0.06 mm) thick
____ aluminum laminations. You make no adjustments to locations with a negative measured value.
4) Close the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).
5) Use calipers to measure the aerodynamic smoothness between the thrust reverser sleeves and the fan cowl panel at each mark.
6) Write the measured values on the fan duct cowls. 7) Calculate the average value.
(f)
If the measured values and the average values are not in the permitted limits, do the steps that follow: 1) Open the fan cowl panel (AMM 71-11-02/201). 2) Do the check for aerodynamic smoothness again.
(g)
If the measured values and the average value are in the permitted limits, do the permanent installation.
F. Permanent Installation of the Rub Strips
S 012-012-C00
(1)
Open the fan cowl panels (AMM 71-11-02/201).
S 972-013-C00
(2)
Write down the locations of the rub strips and the shims.
S 012-014-C00
(3)
Remove the shims and rub strips from the torque box.
S 422-015-C00
(4)
Use spray adhesive to attach the shims to the torque box in the same positions that you wrote above.
S 422-016-C00
(5)
Use spray adhesive to attach the rub strips in the correct positions above the shims on the torque box.
S 422-017-C00
(6)
Drill holes into the torque box at the pilot hole locations on the
rub strips.
NOTE: Do this only on new thrust reverser installations.
