Open the thrust reverser (AMM 78-31-00/201).
(h)
Measure the clay thickness at all compression pads.
(i)
Write down each measurement and its location.
(j)
Remove all clay.
(k) Install the shims as follows: 1) At the upper compression pads, replace the applicable shim with a thickness equal to the clay thickness minus an approved distance of 0.03 to 0.06 inch (0.76 to 1.52 mm) for the clay (Fig. 404). 2) At the lower compression pads, replace the applicable shim with a thickness equal to the clay thickness minus an approved distance of 0.0 to 0.05 inch (0.0 to 1.26 mm) for the clay (Fig. 404). 3) Drill the holes in the new shims the same as the hole locations in the replaced shims. 4) Countersink the holes in the solid part of the shim, not the laminated part (Fig. 404).
5) Make sure you drill the 0.404 to 0.416 inch (10.3 to 10.6 mm) diameter holes in the shim used at the upper center location.
NOTE: These holes are necessary for the bolts used to
____ attach the hold-open rod used during the power plant removal and installation procedure.
6) Bond the solid shim to the laminated shim (315A1000-39 and -40, see Figure 404), then bond shims to pads with BMS 5-36 cement and install screws.
7) Apply BMS 10-11 Type I primer after delamination.

(l) Close the thrust reversers (AMM 78-31-00/201).

(32) Do these steps if you installed the same thrust reverser half or halves and the engine has not been changed.
(a) Make sure that the V-blade and groove surfaces on the extension
ring of the fan frame and reverser are fully engaged.
(b) Close all five latches.
NOTE:____ Starts at the forward latch and continues to the aft.
Use a closing force of 50 to 55 pounds (22.7 to 25 kg)
as measured one inch (25.4 mm) from latch handle end.
If it is necessary, use the hex key wrench to turn
adjustment screw, installed in the end of the latch
hook, to get the correct closing force.

Engage the telescopic unit of the reverser feedback cable in the support bracket (View B, Fig. 402).
