 E.  All components of the master latch lock, latch and hook mechanisms are installed on the door, as are all sequence switches except the door up and down switches.
 3.  Master Latch Lock Mechanism (Fig. 2)

 A.  The master latch lock mechanism is manually operated to lock and unlock the door and open two pressure relief doors. The pressure relief doors remain open when the master latch lock handle is open to prevent pressurization of the airplane. The pressure relief doors also open to limit pressure difference to a permitted level if the external pressure becomes higher than the pressure inside the airplane.
 B.  A fiberglass laminate shroud is installed over each pressure relief door to prevent inadvertent closing of the doors during airplane pressurization. An acrylic window is installed in the bottom of the shroud to provide improved visual monitoring of pressure relief door operation.
 C.  Ten lock sectors are installed on a common torque tube along the bottom edge of the door and align with the ten latch cams. The lock sectors extend to interfere with the latch cams to prevent their becoming unlatched when the door is closed, and retract to clear the cams when the door is to be opened. The two pressure relief doors are connected by linkages to a common torque tube approximately midway up the door.
 D.  The pressure relief door and lock sector torque tubes are connected by linkages to operate together when the master latch lock handle is operated. The pressure relief doors open as the lock sectors retract and close as the lock sectors extend.
