WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE AWAY FROM THE DOOR AND
_______ THE DOOR OPENING WHEN YOU OPERATE THE DOOR. FAILURE OF THE LIFT MECHANISM COULD CAUSE THE DOOR TO CLOSE QUICKLY WHICH COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.
(1) Open the cargo door sufficiently to get access to the bolt heads on the upper door beam and the fuselage upper sill (Ref 52-32-00/001).

Open these circuit breakers for the side cargo door and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
P415 Power Distribution Center - Right
1) 415F17 SIDE CARGO DOOR CONT
(b)
P715 Aux/Ext No. 2 Power Center
1) SIDE CARGO DOOR PWR

Remove the rain seal from the cargo door (Ref 52-32-18/401).

Do these steps to remove hinge sections that have separate hinge pins (Fig. 401):
CAUTION: REMOVE AND INSTALL ONLY ONE HINGE SECTION AT A TIME TO
_______ PREVENT TOO MUCH LOAD ON THE INSTALLED HINGE SECTIONS. TOO MUCH LOAD WILL CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE HINGE.
(a) Remove the fasteners from the door hinge segment and the fuselage hinge segment (View A, Fig. 401) to remove each hinge section.
NOTE: Identify the fastener locations and the position of the
____ shims with a label for the installation procedure. You must install the shims in the same position as before.
(b)
Remove each hinge section.
(c)
Manually close and latch the door.

Do these steps to remove the hinge sections that have the same hinge pins:
(a)
Install the door sling on the side cargo door (Fig. 402).
(b)
Attach a crane to the sling.
(c)
Open the door manually to the hooks full open position.
(d)
Move the sling and crane to release the load from the door hinges.
(e)
Remove the fasteners from the door hinge segment and the fuselage hinge segment.
NOTE: Identify the fastener locations and the position of the
____ shims with a label for the installation procedure. You must install the shims in the same position as before.
(f)
While the sling keeps weight off the hinges, manually close and latch the door.
(g)
Remove the door sling from the side cargo door.
