10) Measure and record the clearance between the serrated plate and body forward frame.
NOTE: The clearance is the shim thickness necessary.

11) Remove the rig pins and open the door to get access to the latches.

12) Install the portal latch fitting with the serrated plates, correct shim thichness, attachment bolts and nuts.
NOTE: Apply sealant to the atachment bolts before install
____ and make sure the countersunk side of the washers face the bolthead.
13) Make sure the rig sleeve is installed in the bearing on the door latch fitting. 14) Close the door and make sure the distance between the door frame and body frame is in the limits. 15) Manually crank the cam actuator until you can install the rig pin through the cam and cam support fitting. 16) Make sure you can install the rig pin through the latch fittings 5 L&R manually. 17) If it is neceesary, do the steps above to adjust the latch
fitting. 18) Install the latch actuator. 19) Close the door. 20) Crank the latch actuators 5 L&R to latch the pins. 21) Make sure the clearance between alignment blocks and door
fitting is 0.010 to 0.030 inch (0.25 to 0.76 mm) (Sections C-C). 22) Add or remove shims under alignment blocks to get correct clearance, if it is necessary.
NOTE: Door will have to be opened to get access to
____ attachment screws on the alignment block.

(2) Do the steps in the latches 5L & 5R adjustment to adjust the remaining portal latch fittings 2 thru 8 in the sequence as follows:
NOTE: Do not adjust push-pull cam mechanism and the distance
____ between the door frame and body frame. Use Latches 5L & 5R as a rig position reference and make sure the latch pins are in the fully latched position when you do the adjustments and checks of the remaining portal latch fittings.

(3) Adjust the stop pins (Section B-B) on latches 3 and 6 as follows:
CAUTION: DO NOT CRANK THE LATCH ACTUATOR WITH MORE THAN
_______ 8 POUND-FEET TORQUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MANUAL DRIVE INPUT.
(a)
Close the door and manually drive latch pins 5L & 5R to the fully latched position.
(b)
Adjust the stop pins to within 0.005 inch (0.127 mm) clearance of bearing plate and back off to the first matching lock groove and install the retainer.

Manually drive all the latch pins to the fully unlatched position.

Portal Latch Fittings 9 thru 11 Adjustment (Section A-A, Fig. 503)
NOTE: Access to the aft attachment bolts on the fitting 9 is through the
____ floor panels on the flight deck forward of the rudder pedals. On the latch fitting 9 and 10, the door fittings are adjustable while the portal latch fitting is not adjustable. On the latch 11, however, the portal fitting is adjustable while the door fitting is not adjustable.
If you remove the fitting for adjustment, make the location marks and turn nuts and carefully remove the attachment bolts to avoid damage to the bolt protective coating. After the adjustment, install nuts and the attachment bolts with primer, BMS 10-11 type I. Make sure the countersunk side of the washer faces the bolt head.
