(b)
Install the upper end fitting of the safety strut in the midspan door latch.
(c)
Lock the upper end fitting in position with the pin through the fitting and the locking pin hole in the door latch.
(d)
Turn the elliptical fitting on the lower end fitting to make sure the slot is at the lower end.
(e)
Open the door to align the lower end fitting with the midspan latch pin.
WARNING:_______ YOU MUST USE THE ELLIPTICAL FITTING ON THE LOWER END
FITTING OF THE SAFETY STRUT. IF YOU USE THE CIRCULAR
HOLE, THE LOWER END FITTING WILL NOT LOCK TIGHTLY ON THE
ELLIPTICAL MIDSPAN LATCH PIN. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO
THE LOWER END FITTING. THIS CAN ALSO CAUSE INJURY IF THE
SAFETY STRUT DISENGAGES.
(f)
Install the elliptical fitting of the lower end fitting on the midspan latch pin.
(g)
Tighten the capscrew on the lower end fitting
(h)
Use the hydraulic pump to push the door a small distance in the open direction.
(i)
Tighten the capscrew on the lower end fitting again.
(j)
Move the pump and the hose clear of the cargo loading area.

A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the rain seal from the side cargo door.
(2)
The installation of the rain seal on the side cargo door.

Remove the rain seal (Fig. 401)

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE AWAY FROM THE DOOR AND
_______ THE DOOR OPENING WHEN YOU OPERATE THE DOOR. FAILURE OF THE LIFT MECHANISM COULD CAUSE THE DOOR TO CLOSE QUICKLY WHICH COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.
(1)
Put the door in the necessary position to remove the rain seal.
(2)
Remove the screw that holds the rain seal to the door.

(3)
Apply a stable pull on the rain seal to remove the seal from the door structure.
(4)
Make sure you do not damage the seal and the retainer.
