NOSE CARGO DOOR SEALS - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General________
A. This procedure has two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the nose cargo door seals
(2)
The installation of the nose cargo door seals
B.
Two types of seals are installed on the nose cargo door. One is a blade-type pressure seal; the other, a bulb-type aerodynamic seal. Each seal is installed in sections which are spliced together on installation to form a continuous seal around the door, except at the hinge area of the aerodynamic seal where the corner seal is installed on fuselage structure.

Prepare For Removal

Install the safety barrier across the door opening.

(2)
Open the nose cargo door to get access to the seals.

(3)
Open these circuit breakers and attach the DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
On the Auxilary External 2 Power Center-Right panel P715: 1) NOSE CARGO DOOR
(b)
On the Power Distribution Center-Right panel P415: 1) 415F16, NOSE CARGO DOOR CONTROL
(c)
On the Nose Cargo Door Power panel H122: 1) DOOR LIFT 2) PULL UP CAM 3) LATCHES 1-4R 4) LATCHES 1-4L 5) LATCHES 5-8R 6) LATCHES 1-4L

Procedure

(1) Pull the seal lip on the pressure seal or the bulb on the aerodynamic seal to remove the seal from the seal retainer.

B00598 Methyl Ethyl Ketone - TT-M-261. Refer to 20-30-01, Cleaners and Polishes.

A00360 Adhesive - Dow Corning 30-079 or Silastic 140.
(4)
Seal Splice Fabric - Dacron Fabric D-117 or D-118. Refer to 20-30-04, Miscellaneous Materials.
(5)
Liquid soap lubricant. Refer to 20-30-04, Miscellaneous Materials.
