 f) LATCHES 5-8L
 (b)  Close the nose cargo door.
 CAUTION: DO NOT CRANK THE LATCH ACTUATOR WITH MORE THAN
_______ 8 POUND-FEET TORQUE. THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE MANUAL DRIVE INPUT.
 (c)  
Use torque wrench to crank the replaced latch actuator to move the lockpin to the the fully unlatched position and then back to fully latched position (approximately 150 turns each direction).

 (d)  
If the operating torque is more than 20 pound-inches, adjust the latch fitting on serrated plates to get the correct alignment (Ref 52-31-00/501).

Fixed-Pin Portal Latch Fitting Installation (Fittings 9-10 L&R and 11)

 S 434-017
 (1)  
For latch fittings 9 & 11 L&R, Attach serrated plate to new fitting with bolts, washers, and nuts.

 (a)  
Install the latch fitting with the laminated shim and the serrated plate on the body structure.

 S 434-018
 (2)  For latch fitting 10 L&R, Install the latch fitting with the laminated shim on the body structure.
 NOTE: The latch fittings 10 L&R do not have serrated plates.

 (3)  
Make sure to use the laminated shim that have the same thickness as the one you removed.

 (4)  
Make sure the latch fitting and the laminated shim are installed correctly.

 S 434-021

 (5)  
Install the attachment bolts and nuts on the latch fitting.

 (a)  
Apply sealant to bolt threads, shank, and underside of head with sealant.

 (b)  
Install the attachment bolts and nuts.

 (c)  
Make sure the countersunk side of the washer is against the bolt head.

 (d)  
Tighten nuts.

 (e)  
Apply fillet seal of sealant on the bolt heads and nuts.

On the Auxilary External 2 Power Center-Right panel P715: 1) NOSE CARGO DOOR

 (b)  
On the Power Distribution Center-Right panel P415: 1) 415F16, NOSE CARGO DOOR CONTROL

 (c)  
On the Nose Cargo Door Power panel H122:
 1) DOOR LIFT
 2) PULL UP CAM
 3) LATCHES 1-4R
 4) LATCHES 1-4L
 5) LATCHES 5-8R
 6) LATCHES 5-8L
 7) NOSE CARGO DOOR CONT (28V DC)

 (7)  
Fully close the nose cargo door.

 S 214-024

 (8)  
Make sure the latch fittings on the door and the body structure align correctly.

 G.
Put the Airplane Back To Its Usual Condition.

 (1)  
Remove electrical power, if it is not necessary (Ref 24-22-00/201).

 A.  This procedure only has illustrations and data for the wear limits of the components on the portal latch fittings. For the removal and installation of the damaged component, refer to AMM 52-31-06/401.
